6. HISTORY, CONCEPT AND VISION
In 1988, FETA Executives realised the new requirements of an evolving industry that a loosely organised association is unable to respond rapidly to the changes brought about by the entry of large integrated companies into the freight forwarding community. It was at this time that the emerging new vision was conceptualised: TO ESTABLISH A GLOBAL COMPANY.
In 1992, a core of FETA members incorporated FETA FREIGHT SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL LTD. (FFSI LTD.) as a financial holding company to focus on the emerging new challenges of globalisation. Since then Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mauritius, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand are operating the corporate trade name - "FETA FREIGHT SYSTEMS". Prospective countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Spain, U.K. are expected to adopt the global identity soon. By year 2000, we project the total FFSI companies to be 25. This grand design enables every member to be a part of the FFSI network using the same global name and identity. Other countries that prefer to operate under their original corporate names will continue to be part of the FFSI network as an Ordinary Member or Network Office.
At present FETA is well organised and represented worldwide. In March 1999, in order to enhance the impact of FETA as an effective global ASSOCIATION, the Board of Executive Committee approved to adopt the ASSOCIATION MARKETING NAME to be FETA FREIGHT SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL or in short (FFSI).
The future in the freight forwarding industry is quite clear. One must be a part of an effective global system to stay competitive. Local companies may attempt to globalise themselves but at a much slower pace and at greater financial exposure. FFSI offers an option that can fast track this objective.
Any qualified freight forwarder that wishes to develop and to expand their network and business opportunity may contact the following offices:
